The goal is to make the development of customized wirings as easy and efficient as possible. A direct correspondence between the circuit arrangement and the software implementation supports this. Further, the labAlive toolbox provides a framework in terms of reuseable objects for tasks appearing in every system demonstration application, i.e. tasks concerning simulation, user interaction and display. Here, only the simulation concept will be set out. Base classes of the inheritance hierarchy provide reoccuring functionalities, so that the code of specific components just contains their specific functionality. This means, the toolbox can easily be extended in terms of creating new systems and their graphical displays.
