4.2 Extending the labAlive Toolbox

  Special focus has been put on the extendability of the toolbox in terms of functionality and appearance:

• The creation of new systems is kept as simple as possible by using the class hierarchy. Existing systems can be refined or be used as templates. E.g. changing the input-output relation of a nonlinear system without memory (characteristics) means just changing one code line.
• The default display of systems (a rectangle with the name of the system as label) can be overridden. E.g. the radar channel in figure 2 is displayed by an animation of an electromagnetic wave.
